CARES-Live Issues – Users Invalidated Erroneously and Change Log Not Visible

ALL County CWS/Probation/CARES SPOCs and Technical Contacts:
A recent change implemented with CARES-Live 2.8.13 on June 24, 2021 would inactivate a CARES-Live user automatically when the user was end-dated in the CWS/CMS application, with “Account Invalidated” added to the Change Log. However, a couple counties have reported a glitch where a small number of CARES-Live users have been invalidated erroneously. In addition, there is a secondary issue where the system-generated Change Logs are not visible to County Admins.
The CWDS Team has been working and testing the fixes, and will implement a hot fix to correct the issue as soon as possible. The small number of impacted CARES-Live accounts will be fixed programmatically by the CWDS team; no additional action is required.
An updated communication will be sent out once the date and time of the hot fix implementation has been decided.

Action Required
No action is required by CARES-Live users or administrators. The CWDS Team will fix the accounts behind the scenes, and implement the fixes as soon as possible.

CWDS Greenfield Selection – UPDATE

ALL County CWS Directors, Probation Chiefs, CWS SPOCs, Probation SPOCs and Regional Meeting Chairpersons:
Child Welfare Digital Services (CWDS) is pleased to announce we have received approval of our Greenfield selection, Resource Family Approval (RFA) Application Portal, by our Federal oversight, Administration on Children, Youth, and Families (ACYF).

The Project will work closely with the Core Constituents (Counties, Tribes, and State Staff), counties with other RFA systems, and the following selected Pilot Counties (Contra Costa, Fresno, Riverside, Santa Clara, and Placer).

The RFA Application portal will be built with no connectivity to the Child Welfare Services/Case Management System (CWS/CMS) and will allow the Project to test the delivery method, demonstrate product value to counties, while establishing an effective implementation approach. The Project has committed to releasing this piece of functionality within a six-month period.

We are excited to begin development and deliver value into production for end users and families.

CWS Virtual Private Network (VPN) Not Available- UPDATE

ALL CWS County SPOCs and Technical Contacts:
UPDATE:  The California Department of Technology (CDT) plan to reload a network device, which they believe will restore VPN server connectivity. Since this action will terminate all active VPN sessions, it has been decided to perform this activity after business hours, tonight. The CDT will reload the device tonight, at 6:00 PM.

This morning, multiple Counties have reported an issue connecting to the CWS Virtual Private Network (State VPN) server. This issue can prevent users from connecting to the CWS/CMS and CARES-Live applications, via Cisco AnyConnect VPN client. The CWDS Office is working with the California Department of Technology (CDT) to resolve this issue. There is currently no estimated time of resolution for this issue.
We will provide status reports as the situation is updated.

Action Required
Inform the IBM Help Desk (800-428-8268) if unable to connect to the Cisco AnyConnect VPN client after the CDT has reloaded the network device.

CARES-Live 2.8.13 Production Release - June 24, 2021| 6:00PM – 9:00PM

ALL SPOCs and Technical Contacts:
EFFECTIVE June 24, 2021, CARES-Live 2.8.13 RELEASE IS SCHEDULED TO MOVE INTO PRODUCTION.
The CARES-Live team has scheduled release activity that will interrupt connectivity to the CARES-Live application. The release activity will begin at 6:00PM on Thursday, June 24, 2021, and conclude at 9:00PM. During this scheduled outage, users will not be able to access the CARES-Live application.
CARES-Live 2.8.13:
The goal of this release is to provide fixes and maintenance needed in Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS), Identity Management and Dashboard.
CANS
  • County Jurisdiction – County received an error in CANS that an assessment is under jurisdiction of another county and could not open the original CANS when a referral was received on one of the minors in the case. The application has been updated to ensure that the county jurisdiction/assignment will come from the current case, not a referral. (#INC0019976 & INC0020172).
  • Misleading Message – The following message will no longer display when CANS is in “Complete” status - “All required fields and assessment ratings must be completed before the SAVE button becomes active.”
Identity Management
  • User Inactivation – when a user is end-dated in CWS/CMS, the CARES-Live user (if exists) with the corresponding CWS/CMS Logon ID (RACF ID) will be inactivated by the system automatically, with a change log of “Account Invalidated.”
Dashboard
  • Training Resources Tile – An issue has been resolved when a user selects the Training Resources Tile on the CARES-Live Dashboard. Instead of directing users to the CARES Implementation Portal login page, it will now take users directly to the CWS-CARES Training portal where they can access CWS-Cares Job Aids, Demo Videos and CARES-Live TRN ENV information.
Action Required
If users experience any issues with CARES-Live, please follow your county process for reporting issues, or you may contact the CARES Service Desk at 1-855-292-3444 or via email at Servicedesk@cwds.ca.gov during normal business hours.
