CWDS Glossary
The CWDS Glossary includes a List of Acronyms and defined terms captured from various models, reports, and other artifacts pertaining to the Child Welfare System – California Automated Response and Engagement System (CWS-CARES) Project. The Glossary standardizes terms used across the various project disciplines; each term is defined with its meaning specific to the project domain.

County Expense Claiming (CEC)
County Expense Claiming refers to the process where counties submit formal requests to the state for reimbursement of costs incurred while administering state-mandated programs. These claims are often called County Expense Claims (CECs).
County Expense Claim Reporting Information System (CECRIS)
The County Expense Claim Reporting Information System (CECRIS) is an integrated system developed by CDSS for counties to report and claim expenses related to various social services programs. CECRIS aims to streamline the process, improve efficiency, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
County Welfare Directors Association (CWDA)
A non-profit association representing the human service directors from each of California’s 58 counties. The CWDA's mission is to promote a human services system that encourages self-sufficiency of families and communities, and protects vulnerable children and adults from abuse and neglect.
Crisis Nurseries
A facility licensed by CDSS pursuant to Section 1516 of the Health and Safety Code to provide short-term, 24-hour non-medical residential care and supervision for children under six years of age, who are placed by a parent or legal guardian due to a family crisis or stressful situation, for no more than 30 days.
Cross-Reporting
The process by which child welfare agencies and law enforcement agencies are required to notify each other when a report of child abuse, neglect, or exploitation is received.
Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF)
A type of malicious exploit of a website where unauthorized commands are transmitted from a user that the website trusts. Also known as one-click attack or session riding.
Cutover
In the context of Implementation, the process of planning, managing, and executing all of the tasks and activities that allow the impacted business functions to transition from the legacy system to the new system.
CWS-CARES Version 2 (CWS-CARES V2)
CWS-CARES Version 2 (V2) will be the second major release of the Child Welfare Services-California Automated Response and Engagement System (CWS-CARES), building upon the core functionality of Version 1. Version 2 will introduce additional capabilities, including advanced analytics, external system interfaces, and federal CCWIS compliance.
CWS/CMS Architecture
The technical resources, goods, and other components or configuration items required to successfully implement and operate the CWS/CMS application to meet its business objectives.
