CWDS Glossary
The CWDS Glossary includes a List of Acronyms and defined terms captured from various models, reports, and other artifacts pertaining to the Child Welfare System – California Automated Response and Engagement System (CWS-CARES) Project. The Glossary standardizes terms used across the various project disciplines; each term is defined with its meaning specific to the project domain.

Responsible, Accountable, Supporting, Consulted, and Informed (RASCI)
The acronym RACI stands for Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, and Informed. These terms define roles and responsibilities within a project or process, ensuring duties and obligations are clearly defined in order to minimize confusion aid in efficiency. It is usually represented in a RACI chart.
Responsible Person
An individual or individuals, including a relative, health care surrogate decision maker, or placement agency, who assists the client or prospective client in placement or assumes varying degrees of responsibility for the client's well-being. A responsible person cannot act on behalf of a client unless authorized by law.
REST Representational State Transfer (REST)
A coordinated set of constraints to the design of components in a distributed hypermedia system that can lead to a higher-performing and more maintainable architecture.
Return on Investment (ROI)
A performance measure used to evaluate the efficiency or profitability of an investment or compare the efficiency of a number of different investments. ROI tries to directly measure the amount of return on a particular investment, relative to the investment’s cost.
Revocation
In the context of CALS, the administrative action to revoke a license because of serious or chronic violations of licensing statutes or regulations.
Risk Assessment
An assessment to evaluate the parent’s ability to protect the child(ren). Risk assessments are performed following an investigation, after immediate safety issues are addressed, and at any point during the delivery of child welfare services.
Roadmap
A visual representation of an end-to-end process that depicts priorities, Project's progress, high-level initiatives, milestones, and the sequence in which building blocks will be completed. Used to communicate direction and progress to internal teams and external stakeholders.
Role
The function assumed or part played by a person or thing in a particular situation.
Role Based Access Control (RBAC)
A policy-neutral access-control mechanism defined around roles and privileges.
Rollout
For purposes of CWS-CARES implementation, Rollout is the timeline when Sites will complete their implementation readiness activities and then Go-Live.
