Frequently Asked Questions
Training Information, Planning, and Sharing (TIPS) Meeting
Q: What are “learning collaboratives”?
A: Learning collaboratives are sponsored by CalAcademies. They are spaces where counties can come together to discuss best practices, collaboration opportunities, and implementation support.
Q: Do end users also have to complete 40 hours of on-demand training?
A: No. End users only complete the on-demand courses associated with their assigned role. Forty (40) hours represents the total time if someone completed every available role-based course.
Q: Are the On-Demand courses prerequisites for Instructor-Led Training (ILT)?
A: Yes. The On-Demand training provides foundational knowledge before staff attend ILT sessions.
Q: Are end-user trainings role-based?
A: On-Demand training requirements vary based on the employee’s assigned role. ILT courses may be assigned to individuals outside their role if the Organization deems it necessary based on the tasks performed by the individual.
Q: How can Cal Academy staff participate in Train-the-Trainer (TTT) sessions?
A: Cal Academy staff should send their requested number of participants to the CWS-CARES Training Coordinators.
Q: Will counties be able to incorporate county-specific business processes into training?
A: Yes. Counties will have opportunities to embed or supplement county-specific procedures into ILT sessions, including breakout discussions if trainings are combined across counties. The current Timeline indicates counties can work with CWS-CARES Trainers from June to the end of July to see how best to incorporate org-specific materials.
Q: Could counties provide additional support staff in classrooms to increase class sizes?
A: The unique needs of each organization, including the option for counties to provide additional support staff in classrooms, will be discussed during the Organization CWS-CARES Training Logistics Planning Meetings.
Q: Will in person / project trainers be available for LA’s training, and to what extent?
A: CWS-CARES Trainers will be made available for training the LA staff. If LA would like to utilize their own TTT, the CWS-CARES Team is happy to partner with them in this delivery. We will discuss the unique needs of each Organization during the Organization CWS-CARES Training Logistics Planning Meetings.
Q: Is training and Enablement only available in the training environment, and how does that work for trainers and learners?
A: Enablement will be available prior to Go-Live in Production Simulation, and the training environment will be used for classroom training. Following Go-Live, Production Simulation will no longer be available, and Enablement will continue in the training environment.
Q: Will On-Demand training curriculum be assigned based on roles?
A: Yes — On Demand is role based.
