Training Information, Planning, and Sharing (TIPS) Meeting
Q: Can County Train-the-Trainer (TTT) conduct training independently, or do they need support from CWS-CARES Trainers?
A: Counties have flexibility. Train-the-Trainers can:
- Conduct all Instructor-Led Training (ILT) sessions independently and will receive support from CWS-CARES Trainers who can answer questions during training.
- Co-lead with state trainers.
- Shadow state trainers while learning the process.
Q: Can counties receive copies of their training curriculum assignment spreadsheets?
A: Yes. Counties can email requests for copies of their Training Curriculum Assignment Spreadsheets to the CWS-CARES Training Coordinators.
Q: If there is self-enrollment for Instructor-Led Training (ILT), who assigns the On-Demand courses, and how will counties know what has been assigned to their staff?
A: Registration processes will be determined by each county. Some counties may choose to centralize registration through Organization Training Coordinators while others may choose to have employees self-register. Organizations can choose the best method for end user enrollment. Reports will be provided by CWS-CARES Training Coordinators to help with monitoring enrollment.
Q: Can experienced trainers skip the second week of Train-the-Trainer (TTT)?
A: No. All Train-the-Trainer (TTT) participants complete 40 hours of On-Demand training and two weeks of Instructor-Led Training (ILT) curriculum. The second week is a teach-back opportunity that helps identify and correct misconceptions, fine-tune instructional practices, and allow feedback from CWS-CARES Trainers to promote fidelity in content presentation.
Q: Can small counties partner with neighboring counties for Instructor-Led Training (ILT)?
A: The Project is open to counties partnering for training. The unique needs of each county will be discussed during the Organization CWS-CARES Training Logistics Planning Meetings.
Q: How will Organizations know if their staff have completed the required On-demand courses?
A: CWS-CARES Training Coordinators will provide reports to Organization Training Coordinators. The two will develop a cadence of report sharing that is right for the Organization. Organization Training Coordinators will also have access to the system to pull reports outside the agreed upon cadence if needed.
Q: Are there alternative options for training Super Users, such as starting earlier or bypassing the practice training?
A: Super Users will complete their training in conjunction with end users. Super Users who participate in TTT trainings are required to take the full TTT course. If Super Users will not be training, they will not need to attend TTT.
Q: Are the Instructor-Led Training (ILT) courses that were shared with the Organizations last fall still the same?
A: Yes, the courses offered will remain the same as indicated on the Instructional Design Maps. Due to the high volume of participants in the Core CWS: Basic Structure of CWS-CARES course, the delivery of this session may look different from the other ILT sessions.
Q: What if a county does not have enough rooms to meet the 25-person minimum training requirement? Are virtual options available?
A: The unique needs of each county will be discussed during the Organization CWS-CARES Training Logistics Planning Meetings.
Q: Are the train-the-trainer on-demand modules really 40 hours long?
A: Yes, TTT need to complete every available on-demand course. TTT can complete the work at their own pace before the start of their TTT course.
