Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Will Instructor-Led Training (ILT) make-up sessions be class-specific, or will they require a full-week retake?
A: CWS-CARES Training Coordinators will work with organizations to determine the needs and delivery of make-up sessions.
Q: Will in person Instructor-Led Training (ILT) be role based, like the self paced training?
A: Instructor-Led Training (ILT) is not role-based. Organizations may identify coursework that supports an individual's needs, using the Instructional Design Maps to determine which course is right for each team member.
Q: Will Probation receive a Probation-specific training guide showing step-by-step what must be entered?
A: CWS-CARES Training is working with Probation, CDSS, and Tribes to determine the best approach to their training needs.
Q: Will probation have probation‑specific training or are probation and child welfare being trained together?
A: Training occurs during the same timeframe, but course assignments are specific to organization needs. Probation's ILT is a one-day, six (6) hour training session.
Q: Will Probation need to have a dedicated Train-the-Trainer (TTT) person?
A: Train-the-Trainer (TTT) is optional. Organizations are not required to commit a dedicated person.
Q: Will Probation retain a single point of contact for training?
A: CWS-CARES Training is working with Probation, CDSS, and Tribes to determine the best approach to their training needs.
Q: Will Probation use CWS-CARES exclusively, or alongside other data systems?
A: Probation will use CWS-CARES as extensively as Child Welfare, but dual entry will still be required. Some tasks (such as case plans and court reports) are not required in CWS-CARES, though dates must still be recorded.
Q: Will Production Simulation continue to be available after training?
A: Production Simulation will be available through early to mid-October.
Q: Will organizations have a say in which staff take which Instructor-Led Training (ILT) courses?
A: Yes. Organizations were asked to identify the needs of each member of their organization on the Training Curriculum Assignment Spreadsheet, and Instructional Design Maps were provided to support that decision-making.
Q: Will there be make-up sessions in October after go-live? Can these be virtual?
A: Make-up training sessions will be offered in October and after Go-Live support as schedules and resources allow.
